Like many of you I was really looking forward to seeing Christine Daae run in the Davona Dale. When they announced that she was scratched I was disappointed. After Watching her “Rachel-like” victory in her Maiden run at 7f I had huge hopes for another victorious win from this fillie! Out of Giant’s Causeway-Descapate, by Dehere… whats not to like?
So what happened, and why was she scratched? Well, her connections decided to race her the next day in a $48K Allowance with Corey Nakatani still the jockey. She ran a similar race to her last, this time stretching out to a 1 1/8. The pace was set at 23:50, 48:36. Christine Daae followed close behind the pace set by Kitty in a Tizzy. She moved to the lead at the 1/4 pole still under a hand ride, and at the 1/8 pole moved away by 2 lengths to the lead. Corey Nakatani probably hit her twice, and the rest was a hand ride to victory. She won the race by 2 1/2 lengths. The final time was 1:50.
While I was desperately seeking Christine Daae, her connections knew what they were doing. They stretched her out nicely in an Allowance Race at 9f, so word has it that that they are anticipating the “Bonnie Miss S.” on March 20th which is at 9f with a purse of $200K.
Bonnie Miss, meet Christine Daae…
Nice article. Love the title! I also think this could be the next super-filly. Looking forward to her next race.
She could definitely be… Hope this is another year filled with excitement and thrill for the fillies and Mares! It’s all about the girls…
